Cape Charles, Virginia

This month's South Eastern Virginia blog is Cape Charles, located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. This town is one of my favorite places, and I couldn't be more excited to share it. On the National Register of Historic Places, it has one of the largest concentrations of late 19th-century and early 20th-century architecture. It is nestled next to the Chesapeake Bay, with a large beach and long fishing pier. The downtown consists of one-of-a-kind boutiques, great restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops. I was able to have lunch at The Shanty and overlooked the water while enjoying my food. Their independent bookstore is impressive, and the Gull Hummock Gourmet Shop has so many treats and a vast selection of wines. The Marina Village has an oyster farm, restaurant, and cottages for the perfect weekend getaway for a more modern feel. One of the many great eateries is Kelly's Gingernut Pub.

There are so many architectural photography opportunities.

Peach Street Books a do not miss on your visit.

The older homes are just beautiful.

Inns and rentals are within walking distance of everything.

The Love Sign is the perfect expression of how I feel about Cape Charles.

In 2022 I will be featuring a different city or town in southeastern Virginia and using all my photographic skills, drone, food photography, and architectural photography.

I hope it will open my eyes to new places close to my home and inspire some of you to visit.

Mary Laufer - I used to live in Cape Charles where the bed and breakfast is My family owned that house and we had some great times there. I miss it and visit when I can. I hope that town gets a lot of visitors from the blog you shared. Still have family there! Thank you for sharing!
