Aerial Showcases: Photographing Norfolk’s Signature Architecture

To truly test the capabilities of the Mavic 4 Pro, I brought it to some of Norfolk’s most architecturally meaningful locations. These spaces represent a blend of innovation, artistry, and community — perfect for demonstrating what high-end drone photography can reveal.

📍 Waitzer Hall – Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences | Old Dominion University

Waitzer Hall is a modern cornerstone of ODU’s Health Sciences campus. From above, its sharp angles, clean lines, and layered exterior take on a completely new energy.

Drone photography allows me to highlight:

• The building’s footprint in relation to campus
• Walkways, courtyards, and circulation patterns
• Architectural geometry impossible to see from the ground
• Light reflections across the facade

I captured both horizontal and vertical compositions to showcase the versatility of the Mavic 4 Pro for commercial and educational marketing.

📍 Perry Glass Studio – Chrysler Museum of Art

The Perry Glass Studio is a working space of creativity — and from the sky, its geometry tells a story all its own.

Aerial imaging revealed:

• The studio’s industrial-meets-modern design
• How natural light surrounds the building
• Its proximity to cultural spaces
• Patterns and lines only visible from an elevated perspective

Drone photography is especially impactful for cultural institutions like this, where design and purpose intersect beautifully.

📍 Chrysler Museum of Art

As one of Norfolk’s signature landmarks, the Chrysler Museum is both stately and visually complex.

Capturing it from the air allowed me to highlight:

• The symmetry of the architecture
• The museum’s relationship to the surrounding landscape
• The interplay of water, trees, and building materials
• The expansive presence of the structure

Again, I intentionally shot both horizontal and vertical formats, demonstrating the strength of the Mavic 4 Pro’s native vertical capabilities for modern marketing.
