As a Norfolk Commercial Photographer who specializes in architectural, commercial, and drone photography throughout Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and the greater Hampton Roads region, I’ve had the privilege of capturing kitchens in homes and restaurants that tell stories of style, function, and beauty.
The week after Thanksgiving feels like a natural time to pause and reflect. We’ve all just spent hours — maybe even days — prepping, cooking, hosting, and enjoying meals in our kitchens. It’s the room that gets the most love and attention during the holidays — and that makes it the perfect time to talk about how we see these spaces.
Whether it’s a bold commercial kitchen or a warm, colorful home design, the kitchen is the heartbeat of a space — and telling that story visually takes more than just a quick snapshot. It requires a professional eye, thoughtful lighting, and an appreciation for the detail and intention behind the design.
Kitchens are some of the most technically demanding spaces to photograph. They combine high-gloss surfaces, reflective appliances, shadow-prone corners, and multiple light sources. There’s a reason your iPhone photo of your beautiful new cabinets doesn’t quite do them justice — it’s all about managing light and space correctly.
As a Norfolk Commercial Photographer, here’s what I bring to every kitchen shoot:
Nothing diminishes the impact of a beautifully designed space faster than inaccurate color. From deep navy shaker cabinets to matte olive green islands or bold red accents, I ensure the tones you chose are represented exactly as they are in person. I use calibrated monitors and meticulous post-processing to maintain brand integrity and design intent.
In a single kitchen, we often deal with sunlight from a window, overhead pendants, and LED under-cabinet lighting — all different color temperatures. I bring professional lighting and precise white balance control to blend these sources and create a consistent, natural feel across every image.
It’s not just about showcasing finishes — it’s about showing how the kitchen works. I shoot wide to capture layout and flow, and close to highlight craftsmanship: dovetail joints, unique storage solutions, appliance panels, and more.
Quartz countertops, lacquered cabinets, brushed brass hardware — every surface behaves differently with light. I use diffusion and selective angles to minimize distracting reflections while preserving the depth and dimensionality of materials.
Over the past year, I’ve photographed kitchens in:
Each color communicates something different — luxury, warmth, modernity, or tradition — and the way I light and shoot these spaces amplifies that message.
This kind of intentional, editorial-quality photography is perfect for custom cabinet makers, builders, interior designers, and kitchen brands who want to attract discerning clients and showcase their best work.
If you're in the business of building or designing kitchens, your visuals should reflect the care, precision, and creativity you put into every project. I work with:

Post-holiday is when many homeowners start dreaming of upgrades — and when designers, builders, and brands gear up to showcase their work for the busy spring project season. Capturing your completed kitchen installations now ensures your portfolio stands out when clients are actively planning what’s next.
Plus, winter’s softer light and longer indoor shooting hours create ideal conditions for moody, dimensional interior imagery that feels authentic — just like your work.
