Southern Living - Syd's Fish Pig Cafe

I have had the opportunity to work with many different chefs over the years. But there will only be one Sydney Meers. His food is as unique as his personality, bold and fun. This month, he was featured in Southern Living's Best New Restaurants of 2023. I was able to photograph the restaurant for the piece. 

Filled with his art and memorabilia, FishPig is as much of an art gallery/museum as a restaurant. Syd, at 71, still cooks to be sure every dish has his special touch. 

The restaurant has already won Best Interior in the Hampton Roads Association of Commercial Real Estate Excellence in Development Design Awards with PMA Architecture to transform a former Starbucks into the space it is now. 

Syd refers to his food as neo-southern, pulling inspiration from his Mississippi roots and our fresh ingredients in the Norfolk area. 

We are lucky to have such a unique place right here in Norfolk. I've featured some of the images below from the interior shoot and his fantastic food; of course, the legend himself makes an appearance.
