This month's South Eastern Virginia blog is going to be Phoebus. Although it is not a stand-alone town anymore, not since 1952 when it was incorporated in Hampton, these 84 acres are too good not to give them their own feature.
Phoebus is loaded with restaurants, bars, quaint shops, and the American Theatre. I have seen many shows there, and it's a great venue.
When you walk down Mellen street, the central area of Phoebus, you take in the architecture of days gone by, many buildings being repurposed for various businesses. Two have had national recognition, Mango Mangeux on Shark Tank and the owner of Scratch Bakery, LaShonda Sanford, who competed in the Food Network's Holiday Baking Championship. The cupcakes there are worth the trip to see Phoebus.
The Baker's Wife, a fairly new restaurant on Mellen Street, has quickly become one of my favorites. I've been several times, and they have live jazz on Wednesdays, great drinks, and the food is creative and delicious.
Take a look at the pictures and leave a comment on what you think of Phoebus and would you like to visit?
In 2022 I will be featuring a different city or town in southeastern Virginia and using all my photographic skills, drone, food photography, and architectural photography.
I hope it will open my eyes to new places close to my home and inspire some of you to visit.

Glenn Bashaw - I know, the evening I was there they were packed, and it was raining, hence the pic of their side area was empty and I got the pics with light. To avoid any type of model release, I try not to have people being recognized in photos.
I can't believe how big the kids are getting, I love seeing the updateson FB and give my best to Diana.
